I’ve been working on building a new website. I was inspired by the American-born Italian painter Marc Dalessio, who was bold enough to create a website with a blog for the homepage.
It has become a commonplace for artists to gravitate to blogging software, taking advantage of template driven site design, minimal maintenance overhead, and an easy integration with daily workflow. There are many variants, one of the more prominent being the “Painting a Day” adherents. I enjoy seeing the paintings and reading the insightful comments of artists like Taryn Day and Cathleen Rehfeld. The aforementioned Marc Dalessio has integrated video and other technologies into his blog, in an effort to explicate the process of painting. Such demystification is a logical extension of the Realist aesthetic. I hope to contribute to that process in the coming weeks, months and years.
